I took this snap while sitting on the banks of the Toronto Bay. There were many boats passing by. A few of them were sail boats like the one above, but most of them were speedboats.
The speedboats were sleek and fast, rushing by with a roar as their owners raced them over the waters. I am sure there is some sort of adrenaline rush and thrill in riding a sped boat, but somehow I preferred these slow and sedate Yachts to them.
I felt very serene and peaceful looking at them ... I believe that they were trying to tell me that life is all about slowing down and savouring every mile of the journey instead of speeding through it !
Savouring slowly yes! There is a thrill in speed-boating but the journey is what matters.
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison..I love how the wind plays such a part in moving a yacht forward. It's all about trust...letting go. So like life.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful thoughts accompanied by a beautiful picture. ...to savour each mile of the journey
ReplyDeleteYou are one well travelled person !!!
ReplyDeleteI sure am jealous of you !
I completely agree with the message you took from the Yatch... yes it is about slowing down and savouring each moment :) :) :)
Tells us of how clearly sorted a person you are :)
I agree. For me too life is about slowing down. Love the picture!
ReplyDeleteYatch on water is always a pleasant thing to watch. In a way I dont believe this is about slowing down. Like Einstein's theory of relativity, I believe this is about opening up the mind and that everything seems limitless so u feel u r slowing down. Ouch too technical? :)

Never been on a yatch...but, a beautiful and serene pic.
ReplyDeletewhat a profound comparison ruchira- good one !
ReplyDeleteLife is all about slowing down and savouring every mile of the journey instead of speeding through it! - Very true.
ReplyDeleteYatching is so much like life, letting go, trusting in the force that it will take you to your destination and not hurrying through things. Loved your post Ruchira.
ReplyDeleteAlways wanted to travel in a yatch even if I may not be able to own a private one ;)
ReplyDeletebful pic
good day
Quite an insight Ruchira
ReplyDeleteWell said, only if we'd slow down a bit and enjoy the beauty of things around us rather than rushing past them...

ReplyDeleteExcellent click.
ReplyDeleteWell said Ruchira ...life is about slowing down and enjoying every moment....I love yachts...Infact, wanted to do a post on it, but didn't have much points...Good one !
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. While it is fun to race ahead, the wind ruffling our hair, it is also nice to slow down and enjoy the journey. Beautiful post, and lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteI have taken short trips on a yacht and the feeling is wonderful. The wind, the yacht cutting through both the wind and the water, the vast expanse of blue beyond..its overwhelming to say the least :)
ReplyDeleteI think of this espcially when I am ferrying my son to classes during the week. I wonder how I am going to impart the joy of doing 'nothing', when quite a bit of his week is packed. Can you imagine an LKG kid has been given holiday-homework?

ReplyDeleteDefinitely! And, on a practical aspect, I get sea sick on fast boats! :P
ReplyDeleteLovely thought!
ReplyDeleteWhy rush? There is a different charm in sitting and enjoying the beauty of life.
